Shockwave Therapy
Targeted sound wave pulses that reach the tissue nothing else can — and force your body to actually heal it.
The problem
Pain that keeps “coming back” was never gone.
Temporary relief is not the same as healing. If you’ve stretched it, iced it, massaged it, and the same pain shows up again — that’s not bad luck. That’s tissue that stopped healing on its own.
Chronic pain doesn’t mean permanent pain. It usually means the tissue has been stuck in a loop — not enough blood flow, not enough signal to repair, just enough dysfunction to hurt.
How it works
We don’t mask the pain. We restart the healing process.
Shockwave therapy uses focused sound wave pulses, generated by a piezoelectric device, to reach deep into damaged tissue with precision — without surgery, needles, or downtime.
Once the pulses reach the area, your body responds the way it should have all along:
- New blood vessel formation to restore circulation
- Collagen production to rebuild tendon and fascia
- Breakdown of scar tissue and calcium deposits
- Natural pain relief through endorphin release
What it treats
Built for the injuries that didn’t respond to anything else.
If you’ve plateaued with stretching, massage, or even other chiropractic care, shockwave is often the missing piece. It’s especially effective for:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Tennis elbow
- Rotator cuff & shoulder tendinopathy
- Achilles tendon injuries
- IT band syndrome
- Jumper’s knee (patellar tendinopathy)
- Frozen shoulder
- Chronic muscle trigger points & tightness
What to expect
What a session actually looks like.
01 — 10-20 minutes, in office
You’ll relax on a treatment table while we apply the device directly to the affected area. No needles, no incisions, no anesthesia.
02 — Pressure, not pain
You’ll feel pressure and possibly a dull ache. That’s the tissue responding — not a sign something is wrong.
03 — 3-6 sessions, weekly
This isn’t a quick fix, and we won’t tell you it is. Most care plans run 3 to 6 sessions, spaced about a week apart.
04 — Results build over weeks
Some patients feel relief immediately. Real tissue change shows up over 4 to 12 weeks as your body finishes the job.
77-80% — Reported clinical success rate worldwide
10 -20 min — Average session length
0 — Needles, incisions, or downtime required
How it fits your care
One more tool. Not a substitute for the work.
Shockwave doesn’t replace correction — it accelerates it. This is how it works alongside the rest of your plan:
Chiropractic — Corrects alignment and joint mechanics — the structural foundation.
Shockwave — Accelerates soft tissue healing and breaks chronic pain cycles that have stopped responding.
Physical Therapy — Rebuilds strength and stability so the correction holds.
Questions patients ask
What you need to know before your first session.
Does it hurt?
You’ll feel pressure and possibly a dull ache — that’s the body responding, and it’s a good sign. Some patients feel relief immediately. Others feel mildly sore for a day or two.
How many sessions will I need?
Typically 3 to 6, once a week. The exact number depends on your condition and how your tissue responds — we’ll be specific with you, not vague.
Is it safe?
Yes. Side effects are typically mild — short-term soreness, redness, or bruising at the treatment site that resolves quickly. Serious complications are rare. We’ll screen you for anything that would make shockwave the wrong fit before we start.
Does insurance cover it?
Most insurance doesn’t cover shockwave therapy — it’s billed as part of your care plan. We’re out-of-network by design, which means your treatment is built around what your body actually needs, not what an insurance company will approve. We’ll walk you through cost before your first visit. No surprises.
Stop guessing
If it keeps coming back, it was never fixed.
East Hanover — if you’ve been dealing with pain that won’t fully resolve, get it assessed properly. That’s what we do here.
